Frequently Asked Questions
Why do privates?
Private sessions give you a chance to have the teacher’s undivided attention. Under Roo’s careful 1-to-1 guidance, you can confidently move forwards, gaining tools and skills to help you both on the mat and beyond. Perfect for anyone who…
- Has specific goals such as aiding in recovery from an injury, or aim to strengthen performance in another area
- Is struggling with loss, stress, anxiety, or depression, or are nervous about practising in a larger group setting; a chance to work at their own pace
- Seeks a more in depth learning experience, and wishes to practise on a deeper emotional, physical, or energetic level
If you have any queries about how private sessions might be able to benefit you, please get in touch by sending a message to firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Where do the sessions take place?
Sessions take place in my private home studio in Quinton. I can host up to 3 people with mats, blocks, belts and all other equipment provided.
How do the sessions work?
In the first session, you should expect to do a lot of talking, whilst being led through a variety of physical yoga exercises. This gives you the chance to ask any questions you might have, and Roo the opportunity to assess what might suit you and your body best. Each session begins with general discussion and a simple breathing exercise to help you settle into the space, before moving onto more flowing movement and physical posture work. As in public classes, we then take it back down onto the mat to finish with guided mindfulness, meditation, and/or relaxation techniques. I am also happy to include Thai Massage if this is something that interests you. You are invited throughout the sessions to ask any questions that may arise. That way, you can let me know if there is anything you would like to explore further and we can play it by ear with how you are feeling each day.
When can I have a private session?
I am available for private sessions any time on Tuesdays between 10am-4pm and on Thursdays between 10am-12pm & 3pm-4pm. Each session lasts 60 minutes. All bookings are taken in advance on a first come first serve basis and do tend to fill up the week before. I have a relaxed approach to cancellation or changing session times as long as I have availability, as I know how life sometimes likes to get in the way! In return I ask that you are understanding if there are times that I myself are unable to make.
Can I bring a friend with me?
Yes! Like most things, yoga is definitely more fun with friends. I can host up to 3 people from my studio, and prices stay the same- so you can choose if you wish to split the cost or not (i.e. if it is a total £30 for 1 session and 3 of you would like to attend, you might pay £10 each or 1 of you might pay the total cost, it’s up to you!). I also welcome any four legged friends – I have a secure dog-friendly garden out the back and doga is definitely a thing…! – babies and children of all shapes and sizes. Please let me know in advance if you are bringing someone along so I can plan sessions accordingly!
Introductory first session is £25, and will last 60 minutes, offering you a chance to see if privates are for you!
- 1 x 60 minute session is £40
OR if you would like to book more than 1 session…
- 5 x 60 minute sessions, paid in advance £160 = £32 each
- 10 x 60 minute sessions, paid in advance £300 = £30 each
